This is my first "solo" bowl. I have made a few back with my father a few years ago and I finally got around to getting my own lathe. the form is not exactly what I was going for, but I am happy with it :) I found that what I have pictured in my head and what I can get the tools to do is a bit different right now LOL

C&C appreciated!

Looks good Scott. What kind of wood and what are the dimensions?

Thanks Mike,
The bowl is about 6" x 3" and I am pretty sure it is a piece of spalted maple but I am not 100% sure.

Nice work Scott! It will be a rare occasion that your thoughts become reality in wood! Not impossible, just takes practice! I seem to remember a bowl like that not to long ago in my past! Sign and date it...then watch yourself learn!

It looks good.
Learning to make what you have planned (some of the time) takes a little practice.
Learning to make what you have planned (most of the time) takes a lot of practice.
Learning to make what you have planned (all of the time) ain't gonna happen.

Nice first bowl. Make sure you sign and date it. A few years from now you can see where you started.

Good job! It is one of a kind. That's the thing about turning. No two bowls are alike.

Good job Scott. It is a nice bowl. As for improvement, the saying "How do you get to Carnagie Hall? Practice!" applies here. The more you do, the better your tool control, and the more your pieces fit your vision. :)
