Well it only took 4 1/2 years for our louvers to need replacing. these are on mechanical doors on the house and guest house. I used mahogony and made a template...then routed angled dados to accept the resawn new louvers. The sill is sloped to keep the rain out. The head has a notch to insure the water lands on the first louver and doesn't blow in. This is typical of flashing and architectural details.

Lining up those slats must be a pain. How are you going to finish these louvers so they last longer than the originals?

It is pretty easy. The 1/2" pattern bit cuts the radius and then you just use a roundover bit on the blades. They were resaen from 5/4. If you flip the templete over it does the mirror image. They will just weather

Those look good, Mark. Of course, the problem with projects like that is you sometimes would love to have about twelve hands!
