I don't do a lot of oak, but this was from a tree in the wife's uncle's yard, so had to do this for sentimental reasons. I believe this is chestnut oak. 13 1/2 x 5, shellac, WOP, buffed, Ren-waxed. Cut and roughed out back in March of 2011. Had some wormy places that I filled with ground ebony and epoxy.

Nice shape and I have never seen oak look that nice. Not familiar with chestnut oak...but it sure looks tighter grained than the oak I've turned.
