Cake Pedestal #2 (For the wife)

Similar to the first, but I'm posting pics anyways. This one went a little quicker, I did a better job sanding . You can't tell from the photos, but in person, with the right lighting angles, you could see sanding circles in my first effort. They are fewer and less noticeable this go around. The base of the spindle had some chipping out of the walnut, so I had to turn it down to a smaller radius than the first- the first had a little more flare out at the bottom. I don't like it as well, but not enough to scrap it.I also played with the settings on my camera. Learing a lot about that as well. No flash this time. I need to get a white background. This is a black backdrop my wife used to take pictures of our daughter when she was born. It's very shiny, I tried to dull it down with photoshop. I kinda like the black background, but it wrecks havoc on the white balance. It looks blue in one photo.Anyways, feel free to comment on the piece, photography, or both. I'm here to learn (and show off a bit ;))
