I have a 220 outlet in my garage that I now use for the Rikon bandsaw. I figure I might as well fix up my Jet CS for 220 as well. So, I open up the little box thingy and it has a graphic of how the thing should be set up for 110 and for 220. For 110, it says this:
/.....\....... /.......\
Black Red Gray Yellow
For 220, it says
|... /....... \ .....|
Black Red Gray Yellow
It also says something about "tape"
There seem to be three terminals where I can place wires.
Let's call them (from left to right) Places 1 2 and 3
Terminal 1 meets up with a red wire output and terminal 3 meets up with a white wire output. Those two wires run with a green (ground?) to the power cord and out the saw. Terminal 2 does not seem to have anything that exits from it.
Currently, Black and Red are on 1
Gray and Yellow are on 3
I am assuming that to move up to 220, I place the Black wire on 1
I place the Red and Gray wires on 2
I place the Yellow wire on 3
Is this correct or am I going to blow up my saw?
Also, my current power cord out of the saw has a plug on it that is set up for 110. Obviously, I need to change this. Should I just cut the end off the plug and place a 220 plug on there or should I make an "extension cord" with a 110 end and a 220 end? I know that I will likely not plug the saw into 110, but I cannot guarantee that my wife or a neighbor or some guy my wife sells the saw to after I die or something won't. Thoughts?
