Got some carbide insert lathe chisel bars + carbide inserts in December from Cap'n Eddie. I cut the bars to length, fine-tuned the seating of the carbide inserts on the bars, rounded the square bar handle end with my grinder for a good fit into the lathe handle drilled holes, then turned lathe handles, drilled them, and finished them with coat of BLO followed immediately with couple of coats of Amber Shellac with lathe running. My thanks to John Keeton for his finishing recipe that I noted in a post just last week. The bars are epoxied into the handles.

Three carbide insert chisels next to their roughed out handles ... the long ones. Two shorter handles to the left to be used for other purposes.

The three finished carbide insert lathe tools plus a newly handled Jacobs chuck for holding drill bits for bowl depth setting, etc. The carbide insert tool bars are 7" long for the round carbide inserts and 8 1/2" long for the square carbide insert; handles are each ~13" long. The brass ferrules are 7/8" OD x 1/16" thick x 3/4" long . ... cut off of a piece of brass tubing.
