I got an email response from him a week or so ago... The cam locks are ready, but the wooden handles that go with them are getting sorted out. Doug will be at the Nashville symposium later this month, and I plan to find out if the cam locks will work with his existing metal handles. That's all I know...

Cam lock on his existing metal handles would be awesome! Fingers crossed...

I played with them at the OVWG Symposium, and they are SWEET!! The wooden handle models for Jimmy Clewes signature gouges are laser engraved, and the cam locks can fit most of Doug's tools. I like them!

Interesting... do these accommodate more than one shaft size? It would be really cool to have one handle that would take say 1/2" and 5/8" shafts.

Good prices too, the cam lock is $50, small handle $22, medium handle $25 and the longest handle not finished.

If I remember the cam lock comes in two sizes 1/2" and 3/8" right now.

Doug showed me the prototype in Waco and I have been waiting for the "real deal" to arrive. I hope there is a way to retrofit the cam lock into existing Thompson metal handles.

When I was out at Doug's shop a couple of months ago, he was working on the cam locks. They appear to be very nicely done. I asked him if he was going to make them in the aluminum handles, he said they would only be the wooden Jimmy Clewes handles.

One can always hope ... maybe things have changed since then!
