Tam just posted part of our Christmas production line....here are the ones that we did together. The birdhouses are madrone and either spalted box elder or maple.
The other lightbulb ornaments are maple that has been dyed. The hardest part about these was the duplicating and I never want to make another one again. We made over 40 bulbs to make up the ornament trio.

Love the bird houses and bulbs, but my tree takes at least a couple hundred! Keep on turning!

Nicely done! Love the finish on that madrone! It seems much darker and richer than the madrone I've seen... The stuff I've gotten has been pale and pink.

John,

The red and yellow dyes were artisan dyes from CSUSA. The green was just food coloring, water, and a few drops of vinegar, just like you would do for an easter egg. I only had red green and yellow Artisan dyes, and didn't like the blue made by mixing the dyes so I did the food coloring mix. Worked fine, but with the acid from the vinegar, I don't know how it will do over time. I suppose the vinegar wasn't really necessary, but I did it because I was in a hurry. I also don't know how the food coloring will fare when exposed to light for an extended period of time. It may fade.

Thanks Steve, now that the holidays are over and Brian has his 3 lathes, maybe we will actually get some turning done. Our problem is finding time to shoot the pictures...he says it's my job, I say it's his...time to bring out rock, paper, scissors!! :)
