This last month was a blur...of wood shavings and lacquer fumes. :D Christmas production was at full speed right up to the last, and I mean last minute. Brian was buffing and wrapping just minutes before our last family get together, on Christmas day. Here are a few of the things that I made. The wands are replicas of Hermoine's and Draco's wands (and my first attempt at carving). They are made of Cherry and walnut with india ink on the handle. The next is a walnut garden dibble. The birdhouses are elm with mahogany top, poplar with cedar top and the three are madrone with box elder burl tops. Critiques are always welcome.

Tamara, that is some really clean work!! The wands are neat and unique, the dibble is beautiful - great curves, and the birdhouses are some of the nicer ones I have seen. Is the finish on the birdhouses lacquer? Excellent!

I agree with John - my first thoughts were how clean the lines are on everything! Very nice work and I am sure the family members thta received these were thrilled!!

Thanks guys...I appreciate the comments, especially from the two of you. Yes, John the finish is spray on lacquer then buffed. Steve, the best reaction was my 8 year old nephew who is a Harry Potter nut...and he got the simplest of wands (Draco's). :)

Nice work! I hope my son doesn't see the wands... The one I made him is quite crude in comparison. Love that deep , rich color on the madrone.

Those bird houses (I sell some as "bug bungalows") are most excellent, but what about perches? I take the easy way out and make mine from bamboo skewers.

Really nice work on them wands, the carving looks great and the last three birdhouses are impressive how they are sized... roof lines and holes.

Wow Tamara...I received a new hollowing tool the other day and these along with Will's previous post really inspired me to get off the fence! Beautiful job(s)!!

Beautiful birdie houses. :) I especially like the three in madrone.
The hangers are great too, and I'll have to remember them. I've been playing around with a few different hangers lately.
