More variations on a theme... The feather is more subdued in this piece than the others, but I like the color and pattern of the heartwood. It went home with my nephew. I think the blank came from my neighbor across the street when the power company went on a tree trimming binge, hitting all the trees with branches hanging over the lines.

John, this was a big tree, and they hacked away about a third of the canopy. Some trees got off lightly, some were really butchered. Luckily for me the lines are on the other side of the street, so my two maples were spared.
