This is arts and crafts/asian inspired small kitchen sideboard is easily my most ambitious project to date. Constructed from maple and quartersawn cherry, it has many firsts for me, including:

Frame and panel construction, with panels made from resawn quartersawn cherry
Hand-cut dovetail drawer construction
Inlay on top
Installation of butt hinges for doors
Shop made door and drawer pulls
Sprayed water-based finish (General Finishes Enduro-Var)

Made plenty of mistakes, for sure, but am pleased with it. Now, I just have to make a matching mate with a wine rack inside (instead of the adjustable shelf that resides inside this one).

Critiques welcome!

It's loooooking gooood !

It looks like you could throw together a tuna sandwich on it no problem...hoot!

Good job.

If you build another one, try putting some slight arches or curves on the bottom cross pieces.
It will give it a lighter feel and less blocky. Blocky may not be a real word but I hope you know what I mean.

Thanks for posting !

Thanks Terry!

There actually is a subtle curve on the bottom rails on both the front and sides. It may be too subtle, but they show up better in person than in the picture. Also, the legs have a pretty good curve, but again it shows up better in person.
