Ambrosia Maple NE

Neat form from a great piece of wood! Although it may be a photographic illusion, it seems like the wall thickness is greater in the lower portions of the NE than it is in the higher portions... I think the piece look best when the NE is consistent all the way around. Great finish!

Very nice! I generally like them shallower, but this is one case where the wood dictates form, and I would have done just the same as you in order to include the dark heart wood. If the lower portions are in fact wider than the tips, it means that you could have continued hollowing a little more until they evened out.

Thanks for the comments. Jim and David you are correct. I didn't notice it until you said it, but the lower edges are about 1/8" thicker. Now I will pay more attention to that detail in the future. This is what makes turning such a learning process.
