My wife bought me custom ear molds for my headphones so I don't have to wear ear muffs. I have battled noise in my shop I have used pelter noise blocking earmuffs with line in (they lasted a few months. ear buds under the ear muffs (cord would catch on everything) to a bluetooth headphone adaptor that let me use any earbuds. that works well but my noise blocking ear buds don’t stay in well and the foam inserts don’t last very long that do stay in. So the earphones I bought has a service for 100.00 to get custom ear molds made for them. you print the coupon out make an appointment at one of the local places they list and get them done. I went today and it was not bad. She had to clean the wax and I swear she went in 2’ and pulled a basket ball sized ball out of each ear. They she put a miniature tampon in each ear pushing it in at least 1’ then mixed up what looked like flexible bondo and squirted it into each ear. it was more like putty white wit ha blue hardener but she mixed it in her hand but pushed it through a big syringe. when she was mixing it it did not seem thin enough to push through. it was strange having both ears plugged so much. but after a few minutes she popped them out like a forge out of a wine bottle and shipped them off. I guess the company will call me and i will pay and get them in two to three weeks. I will report back with the results. I sure had clean ears afterwards though. here are the ear buds I bought I spent about 100 on sale for the hf-3’s http://www.etymotic.com/ephp/hscomp.html

Another buddy got that done for some on-stage buds to use while he plays guitar in his band. He loves them.

Do keep us posted, I have a couple of sets of molded plug from my competition shooting days but they don't fit as well as they used to, but this sounds like it could be a really cool idea if it works well.

I forgot to post about these puppies. it took a bit to get used to them they did not seem to go in deep enough to block really loud sounds. but after a few days that stopped being the case. or I learned to insert them better. They don't collect wax as bad as any other earbud I have used. I can hear whats going on just fine. but I do miss people talking when I am outside my shop. If I had the earbuds plugged into my phone without bluetooth a app would amplify them so I could hear.
