Very nice Steve. I think this form is about to go viral! Well done keeping all the bark intact, and I like the rounded calabash style bottom.

VERY Nice! Has it all. The inset top surface is killer.

Beautiful Steve, that bark inclusion really adds some interest to the piece and the finial is spot on. That's an awesome piece of wood too. Did you do a small foot or will it rock? What is the size and finish.

What is the size and finish.Nate when i finished the bottom i just put a flat spot on it, no lines to define the bottom. Still need to sign, then you will be able to see the flat. Size is about 6x7 1/2 to top of finial.
Thanks guys for the comments do appreciate it.

WOW Steve, that is absolutely georgous, nice job. I really like the effect you have with the lid. The perfect piece of wood for the project as well.

Very nice, gnarly but not to much so. There is a lot going on this piece.

What a kicker! This has it all, cool form, cool wood, cool finish and a neat finial! (I was tired of "cool") I like your idea for the bottom since round bottoms are, well...cool! Finial shows a lot of tool control that I sure don't have. Nice work dude!

That's cool! One great thing about this flat top design with burls... If you orient the piece as you have, the top of the form is covered with all the best bits of the burl! The finial is nicely done, but it seems a bit out of place to me. It's kind of a contrast between rustic and refined that I'm having a hard time resolving. That's not unusual for me... I've got lots of issues that I haven't resolved. I'm glad you did one of these, and I hope some others will too... I've learned a thing or two from looking at your piece and at Nate's.

Very interesting piece with much going on. I agree with Keller that the finial is a bit of a contrast but that puts the piece at home in any decor and if the contrast evokes thought or conversation then you have done a good job.

That is a sweet piece. I do like the finial as it adds to the piece.
