After scouring Craiglist and Ebay for a month, I finally managed to nab a Type 1 Canadian made DeWalt DW788. Paid $250 for it. Came with the stand, light, and some extra blades. The only downside is that I had to make a long drive from NYC to the Poconos.

Didn't really feel like using the word gloat, but seeing as that's what people say when they brought a cool tool at a great price.

Gloat is a happy word here and feel free to use it in regards to this aquisition, however, rule #1 is: no pictures = it didn't happen. :D

Get some pics up and you will get the obligatory "you suck" that come with a good gloat.

Great find on a great saw.

I got my DW788 Type 1 on clearance at Lowe's with stand for $199. That was about 7 or 8 years ago I guess.

That's a good scroll saw. Very low vibration. Good deal!

Can't see it, but assuming, hypothetically, that it exists, it's a great deal. My favorite type of machine is one that I can could sell for about what I pay if it does not work out. Depreciation is best left to others, as far as I am concerned. Tried it, didn't like it.

Great score, you do suck! Are you related to Mike Cruz? There really are'nt any gloat threads without him being involved somewhere.

Just FYI- Be sure to keep the sawdust blown out under the on/ off switch. That is where all your electronics are and dust can cause problems. Some take an old latex glove and cut a piece out of it. Tape it over the power switch to keep dust out.
Also the bulb for the light can be hard to find. Odd size. Walmart around here (Cincinnati) has them.
