I recieve this plane from a friend who found it in a shop of some sort in Deadwood, SD. I have had shoulder problems, surgery etc. and have been out of the woodworking loop for over a year. Well I finally tuned it up. It had most likely been painted but had almost no rust on it. I lapped the sole, frog, chipbreaker and did the iron @ 25d with a micro bevel with an 8000 Shapton.
I tested it out on a piece of 2x12 pine board. I set it for a fairy deep cut and once the blade was adjusted etc., the shavings just floated off.
It sure feels good to have that happen. I am too lazy to send pics.
Happy New Year every one.

LOL!

I think this is the same as the Stanley/Bailey #6.

Happy New Year.

Those clever Millers-Falls folks used the length of the plane as a model number on the common bench planes (Stanley's 2 - 8): http://oldtoolheaven.com/bench/benchtable.htm
