I am fitting a new mouth for an Ohio tool try plane that I have. My goal was to tighten up the mouth a bit. I am familiar with fixing the mouths of single blade planes, but this blade and cap iron experience has me flumixed. I can't quite figure out what to do with the bottom inch or so of the face opposite of the plane bed. I am use to having this face angle towards the blade. this plane seems to revert to a vertical face for this last 1/2 inch to inch.

as I see it if I extend my mouth patch to give myself a minimal mouth opening I won't be able to maintain that constant vertical face. In face I will be creating a shelf. that I fear will be a nice home for shavings to clogg up in.

Anyone have any suggestions for how to handle this situation?

Thanks,

Jerome

This is a picture of what is likely a similar plane to yours. This one is a Sandusky Tools plane. The bottom inch of the face opposite the iron is angled, slightly, back towards the front of the plane. I've done my best to try to capture this in photos.
