The new owner of this bowl was willing to wait for me to finish it and get a picture before he took it. I knew he was coming since he called first and he found me in my shop. After looking at what was in my finishing room he asked about the bowl that was still in the lathe so we went back out and this is what he wanted for a salad bowl gift. The sanding/wetting /sanding process I do was complete so while he watched, I applied some walnut oil/bees wax mixture, turned off the spigot, signed it, shot this pic. Now that is something I wish could happen more often!

Birds eye boxelder about 12" diameter, walnut oil/bee's wax finish.

C&C on work always welcome.

Hey a great piece of wood always helps! Thanks for the great compliments and you all have a wonderful Christmas. I'm gonna (try to) sign off the internet for for a day and cook soft boiled eggs for my kids tomorrow morning.

Hayes, great looking bowl. I about fell of my chair when I saw your post. I had just moments earlier brought this one from the shop. Box Elder, three beads n all. I just took a quick shot outside to show you. Hasn't been finished yet. I guess great minds think alike.
Ian.

P.S. Merry Xmas

Beautiful work. Great wood, and fantastic workmanship. Turning beads pound of the bowi surface takes time and skill. They make the bowl stand out from the normal.

Ian, you need to give that one it's own post! Hey, my wife wants me to take her to see your area, when do the woodturners meet?
