I am traveling to Houston on Jan for some work-related items but will have evenings to look around? Any recommendations on places to shop or visit? I am always trying to find old planes at antique places etc.

Any woodworking or turning related destinations would be nice to know about.

Thanks

Brent

Antique planes aren't that common in Houston. We have our assortment of Rockler (On Hwy 59 @ buffalo speedway) and a few Woodcrafts (one at 1960 & I-45, the other at Beltway 8 & US 59).

We have a few decent hardwood places (look up Houston Hardwoods and Clark's Hardwoods), but they mainly deal in flat stock, nothing you could take on a plane really.

Lloyd Stahl in Katy, just west of Houston, http://www.texaswoodcrafts.net/, has good turning stock, primarily species frequently found in Texas. - No financial interest, just a satisfied customer.
