This might be silly, but I made a bottle opener look like a vessel so that it could sit upright on a table.

I'm a little embarassed to use a 4x4 redwood post scrap to make it but oh well.

The bottle opener kit is from Rockler and was about $8 and the chrome seems thick and durable. Be careful not to crack your wood by forcing in the threaded insert and there's not much that can go wrong.

I know that for $8 you can buy a nice bottle opener, but who has a bottle opener with curves like this?!?! haha

I'd say that's the point!! Nothing wrong with that, it sure isn't likely to get lost in the kitchen!

You did very well with that. I might have to do a couple of those.

After using it on several adult beverages, you may find the size comes in handy! And what's wrong with using what you have...those old 4x4's seem a bit soft, but put a good poly finish on it and you're ready to get busy!

That will be great for a man sized brew!
