A friend of mine is debating between a Nova 1624-44 (replaced the 3000) and a Delta 46-460. Aside from price is one better than the other? If so why? Or is there another brand that might be better to look at.

I have the old 3000.(I have had over 20 yrs and it has done yeoman duty during that time..it was my go to lathe) It is a tank. I like it because it's 16 " over the bed, and 29 outboard. I can sit on a stool and turn a bowl without straining to bend over the bed. A real plus for disabled or folks with touchy backs

Hey Josh,
I think the concensus from most is that the Delta 46-460 is the benchmark that others are compared against. Lots of excellent features including reverse and electronic variable speed, 1 HP motor.

I've got a 46-460 and love it. The Nova is a bit larger and can be upgraded to the direct drive evs. If he has the budget for the upgrade the nova it seems like a nice choice.
