Well, seeing the piece I cut for John worked over my blade, I had some time to work up a good hissy fit while putting an edge back on the old girl. There is no more Burl, its now Burl blanks!I will not sell any, but will gladly ship you your piece of choice as long as you cover shipping. I am going outside now to take images of each piece, measure and then anchorseal. Please, dont PM me, just post which item you want (after images are posted) so that it is truly a 1st come, 1st served deal. I want to thank everyone here once again for all the info, encouragement and support in my journey into all things spinny, I will be expecting some serious turnings from these pieces just to cover the sweat I worked up in this venture haha!!!!

Ok, 1st up are the cut offs. I reckon they can be used for various things but i'm no expert. I know alot of folks want pieces so they can use the burl cap. If you do not want a pice you will not hurt my feeling one bit, I didnt want to toss a piece someone can or could possibly use.#1Cap cut offSmaller piece 5 inchs long or so

Like I said, Tim... Ken should get some turnings back outta this...

BTW, not in any way implying that I should get anything from anyone I've ever sent wood to. I just know what Ken went through to get this stuff, and it is prized stuff, too.

Ken Hill
12-20-2011, 5:27 PM
LOL, well if you aint havin fun then it aint worth doing! I just finished 2 Oak crotch rough outs and will be starting to box up whats spoken for and label them. Once I have them done, and know what size box they fit in, I will start contacting eveyone with the shipping cost. I will try Fed Ex (I am a business shipper) and USPS flatrate to see which is cheaper for each piece.

A few years from now, I will probably kick my own rear end giving away this stuff BUT right now I dont know what to do with it as far as the caps and such so its better served amongst you fine folks instead of my woodstove!!! Now I did keep 2 small pieces just incase I get the gumption to gnaw on a pice of this stuff haha!

Ken Hill
12-20-2011, 5:29 PM

Ken Hill

Ok folks, everyone who either paid or got me an address is boxed and ready for Fed Ex pick up. The tracking numbers I sent should become active after they are scanned by the driver. If he shows up and cant take them all (Never know how full they are this time of year) I am sure they will be taken on their next pick up. Thanks everyone, hope you enjoy the pieces!

Dale Coons
12-20-2011, 8:31 PM

Ken, just 3 comments. You must not like "turning concrete", you sure know how to attract the wildlife to the point of a feeding frenzy, and your a genenerous man!:D

Mike Cruz

Ken Hill

Mike, if I was smart about this, I would have made it mandatory for teh wood to be picked up and have each person stack a bit of firewood before they left LOL!!!!

Bernie Weishapl
12-20-2011, 10:44 PM
Why is it the wife has me on the road for 6 hrs and the burl-o-thon is over? Ken that is very generous of you. My grandmother always told me what goes around comes around.

Ken Hill
12-20-2011, 10:55 PM
LOL, sorry Bernie

A little hint of why im tweaked with next door

http://kenhill.smugmug.com/photos/i-X3KwrtJ/0/XL/i-X3KwrtJ-XL.jpg

Thats the water contamination in the creek that runs through his property and onto mine. 5 acres, 21 cows and the entire plot is a slope to the creek. Ive had all I can handle, and after his wife had a tirade over my chickens and firewood, calls were made to get the ball rolling on an inspection via the DEP, next will be the county conservations office and on and on. He is in violation of federal law and I intend fully to be the biggest PITA he has ever met. BTW, he is the VO AG teacher at the highschool and president of the FFA chapter...he has ZERO excuses for breaking the law and doing this to the land.

Bill Wyko

Just wanted to say, I got the burl today, it's quite a monster. Thanks again so very much. I'll try to get a picture asap.

Ken Hill
12-29-2011, 6:15 PM
You are quite welcome Bill. You got the biggest piece, actually a tie with John Keeton for size. I hope everyone has fun turning it!

I got a gift myself tonight as UPS dropped a big box which contained Murtle Burl from Russell Eaton! I would take a pic but my gear sis packed for this weekends wedding and I dont want to have to re-clean it haha! Free beer, free food, free hotel and a paycheck...gotta love it!

BTW, 2 County Inspectors showed up incognito and snooped around. They will be back next week in full state dress to handle the neighbor. The wife still cant really talk, but the cough is less and she is fixing me supper so all is heading in the right direction!

Hopefully 2011 goes out and we can really get things cranked up in 2012!
