I have been experimenting with various carving and dying techniques on the travel mugs I have been making. The first one is made with cherry and the brick molding design is burned into the wood. The second one is ash that has been dyed black with leather dye, carved with a rotary chisel and filled with gray tinted modeling paste. The third and fourth as from hickory and treated like the black one with the rotary chisel and tinted modeling paste. The finish on all of these the Generals WTF. These are fun to make and sell really well around the holidays.

Those are good looking mugs. I like #4 te best. The curve you put in the black one is good to hold on to. I suspect it will sell first.

Greg only one thing i see wrong with these. The cherry one with the bricks. In over 30 years in the building trades i've never seen a brick mason, that could lay bricks that stright.:D Now seriously great job on all. I like the black also, but there all great.

The black one seems like it has a very holdable look to it Greg. For some reason, the green runny looking one appeals to me as well and I don't normally go for the drippy look in art.
