Thinking of swapping out a 3/4 hp for a 1.5 hp on my bandsaw. Got a line on a cl Dayton. Shaft, rpm's etc look fine. My question is the existing motor says frame 56 5 and the Dayton says 56H, what does this mean? And are there other considerations. It's a long enough drive and the $100.00 price is firm so I'd like to know it would work. Thanks.

I have never heard of a 56 5 frame motor. Are you sure that it is a 5 & not an S. An S means it has a short shaft.
The H on the Dayton motor means that it will work in place of other frame size motors. Such as a 145T.
The motor should work fine.

And are there other considerations

One of the other considerations is to make sure it's around a 1750 rpm motor. Also check the shaft diameter to see if it's the same as your old one.

Also make sure both motors rotate the same direction, or at least that the 1.5 hp motor can be reversed.
