I was thinking about ordering my 1st chuck for my Delta lathe. I am going with the Vicmarc 3 1/2" chuck and I am wondering
what would be the best all around set of jaws to order with this chuck? I would like to get into bowl turning, but I could see turning
other small items as well. Thanks!

I would recommend the standard jaws to start. You can always purchase others as you need them.

"Standard" being the 2" dovetail jaw set that Craft Supplies sells with the chuck?

I have the Vicmarc VM 100 and got the jaws supplied with it. I also found out later that the Grizzly chuck that is $105 is the clone of the Vic. The Vic jaws fit it so I have 4 of those with different jaws.

I have found the pin jaws, (35 or 25mm) to be very handy as a second set of jaws. Otherwise I use my 2" jaws a lot more than any other.

Yep, the 2" jaws will take you a long way.
