Space is tight in the garage, and I figured I would go big and go vertical on this one. Plus, I have a lot of pine to use, (a lot of it birdseye pine), so for the most part, these are all pine. (Top is entirely pine, but I use some ply on the base).

First, the base.

The base is 6' wide and 24" deep (top is 26" wide).

I made 4 big drawers. That's a 5 gallon bucket in that drawer.

I didn't buy drawer slides for these drawers, even being as big as they are. I inset some white oak strips into the side of the drawers, and then ran a groove in the white oak for the drawer runner to slide on. Corresponding maple runners were glued into a dado in the case sides. With some wax, even fully loaded, they slide in and out just fine. On a couple of the drawers, I machined interior vertical grooves so dividers could be added.

Drawer fronts are birdseye pine wrapped in a mahogany.

My wife likes to buy yard chemicals and never use them, so the contents of the containers usually end up eating through the packaging and staining whatever it is they sit on. Therefore, I opted to have metal liners made up for these drawers to protect the bottoms. It took the sheet metal shop 3 tries to get these pans the right size.

The top. Er... tops.

I made two cases and the face frame and crown ties them together. The top cases are joined with sliding dovetails - the shelves slides into grooves in the panel rails.

Solid wood for the backs, tongue and grooved.

Final casework, in place, in use, waiting for 5 more years for the wood to patina before I apply a finish. I used douglas fir for the end panels on this case. I made the crown on the tablesaw. Whole things is just under 8' tall. My sister said she wanted one just like this, but she said she would put it in her dining room. ;)

I turned the door knobs from some reclaimed heart pine. First time I've ever turned 4 pieces and had them resemble each other.

Thanks for looking.
