Can anyone provide me a source for ebony dowels? I'm looking for 1/2" diameter and don't want to make them myself, would prefer to buy them already done.

Thanks.

Try posting on the turning forum. Any turner can make a dowel. You can also try the neander forum. Whether dowel plates for something like the Stanley nbr 77 dowel machine, they can make a variety of sizes as well. Or even true old school guys with a drawknife and a rasp. I've got nbr 77, but I don't have a 1/2" cutter.

On this forum, anyone with a half or quarter round router bit of the appropriate dimensions can make you some.

I assume these will be decorative. As hard as ebony is, if it's structural and not made from riven stock, it may well break. Post your specs and usage and you'll get some responses. The classifieds forum might be your best bet.
