I recently bought a Roland GX 24 Optical cutter. It is really cool!
It's amazing how accurate it will do a contour cut. I bought this for signage
never thought I would be doing T-shirts but now I can
The question I have.... Is Roland provided it's software called Cut Studio.
In the software you can import a bitmap image, then through a filter you
can adjust it so the image shifts to black then you can extract a contour
hairline around just the image. Will just a little bit of clean up you now have
a contour hairline around the perimeter of the image and not the whole square.

I know I could probably go through the steps in PP or PS save the bitmap
with transparency then import it and contour it. What I want to know is if there
is a way to do this in X5 in a quick step that I don't know about.

I hope this makes sense.

This would be a great feature for CD if it doesn't alreay exist. Right now
I hand draw the outline.

Hi Marty, sorry can't answer your inquiry but I've seen adverts for the Roland products, they look real interesting. How does it handle register between printed object and the cutting? And how precise is it? Looking forward to hearing about your experiences with this tool.

It is amazingly accurate for the litttle I have worked with it. It took about 10 sheets of material to fine tune the adjustments between
The print and the cut. I have learned just to contour in a hair to make sure your covered. I doubt screen printing registration could be
as close. I'll post some examples as time permits. I wish I had the money for the printer cutter and I wish I bought one of these years ago.
I paired this with an Epson WF 1000 seems a great fit!
