This bowl is from a crotch section of maple with some pretty nice feather grain running through it and a small bark inclusion on the rim. There is one crack along the feather that detracts from it slightly. The bowl measures 8 1/2" diameter and 2" high and is finished with Antique Oil and buffed. All comments are welcome. Thanks for looking.

Rob, that is a beautiful job on a wonderful piece of wood. The crack doesn't take away from the bowl IMO.

Thought I would jump in and correct your picture so Scott wouldn't need to!!:D

total agreement that the crack does not detract from a well done piece. Have to say, I like the foot.

Nicely done! It's interesting that I can't see the crack on the underside of the bowl... Any chance you could go thinner and get rid of it completely? I think it's great as is, but it would be nice sans crack.

Now that's got some beautiful feathering in the bottom. Nice!

The crack doesn't go all the way through the wall. I was having tearout problems in the grain but finally got a nice surface, so I figured I'd better stop while I was ahead.

Very nice. Really does look like a giant peacock feather imprinted into it. That's the kind of bowl that you hate to put something in and cover up that figure.

That's my favorite type of bowl Rob...beautiful wood, classic style...perfect grain orientation and finish. Great job!
