I just purchased a used Epilog Radius 25watt !!! So excited.
I need to build my ventilation system.
It said i need a blower with 400 cfm at 6" of pressure.
I saw that many people on this forum have gotten the dust collector at Harbor Freight for $89.
But i found a smaller ventilator for $74

High speed free air 1575 CFM
low speed free air 1400 CFM
From their website I can't tell which direction the air flows but can I use the smaller ventilator instead?

this is the one from HF that most are using...You can usually catch it on sale for $99

T (http://www.harborfreight.com/13-gallon-industrial-portable-dust-collector-31810.html)he one you are looking at is 8" diameter, you could reduce it to 4" but it would drop the airflow a lot.

The one Jimmy linked is one that I use, I actually have 3, 1 for my laser and two for sandcarving. The ventilator blows lots of air around but it's not made for this purpose, the cfm rating on it isn't comparable to the blower since it's probably at 0" of pressure.

The #94029 and the #31810 are essentially identical, probably just different suppliers.

Note that CFPM ratings in this price range are a little like MPG ratings in car ads: optimistic and dependent on application.

Not even close. They are physically quite different sizes and their specs are different as well. I bought one of the red ones (94029) first and exchanged it for the green one (31810) because the red one was so friggin loud.

I think a lot of people use the red one too. It has the advantage that you can control the speed if you use this speed control;

Thanks for all the replies.
I went out and bought the red one at HF today. Next, i need to build a doghouse for the blower.

To answer your original question... 'no'. The ventilator does not have the static pressure (the 6" mentioned) required to move enough airflow.

Just FYI if you get the Red one from Harbor Freight, get the parts manual out and order a couple sets of carbon brushes that go into the motor. Just had mine go out. Ran for about 7 months. It works very well
