But this is a Pepper Mill, Salt Shaker and Toothpick Holder that I just finished.

Maple I think, finished with Turners Polish.

Nice work, Keith! Maple it is, but what is the inset portion? Looks like walnut, somewhat. And, more importantly, how did you accomplish the inset?

The inset is purplehart I think. When the block was square, cut a notch and add the wood, and then turn.

Can't take credit - saw an example online!

Those will make a nice set Keith. I'm assuming thats whats planned. Someone posted a set recently that sat on a matching tray. It seemed to really tie things together. Got a flat piece of maple left? Just a thought.
