Is it possible for me to get a relatively inexpensive clock movement (electric quartz) onto which I can mound hands about two feet long? The hands would probably be cut out of sheet metal or possibly some sort of plastic if keeping the weight down is important.

This isn't for a fine timepiece. It's an art installation--but it does have to actually function and keep time.

You need whats called a high torque movement. Just did a quick search and found one with 17 inch hands. Klockit is a good company. Give them a call for advice.
