I cannot think of any other day of the year that is more sacred to our nations Veterans or more important to the citizens of America and ultimately the European Nations.
We should never forget this day nor allow future generations to go through life without the knowledge of the sacrifice and loss of life our parents suffered. There are precious few of the Greatest Generation left. There service should never been forgotten, the sands of time should never be allowed to erase their heroic deeds.

We visited Pearl Harbor a few years ago and it is pretty humbling to see the memorial and the Arizona beneath the water. I was taking photos and happened to be inspired by this one of a young man who lingered behind his family to finish reading the names of those lost on the Arizona.215025

I find the satellite image to be quite moving, especially with her sister ship, the USS Missouri, at her dock immediately to the south.

Thanks for the reminder Keith. My boys are under the age of 7. This is a wonderful opportunity to teach them to appreciate the sacrifices others, whom they have not met, have made to better their lives.

I read in the paper today the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association will be holding its last gathering at Pearl Harbor today. In 1991, the 50th anniversary, they had over 2500 in attendance. They expect 125 today. They are dying or are to old and infirm to make the trip. I hope the loss of the survivors doesn't mean we will lose the significance of their sacrifice.

One of the USA's worst hours was turned into her finest hours by the many sacrifices of these men, and thousands like them. They became the templates (woodworking connection). Thank God for them.

Veterans,of the 'War" are becoming increasingly rare...a good friend of mine, a survivor of the fall of Bataan, passed away a couple weeks ago. If you know a WWII vet, take him/her out , let them know how much you appreciate them.
