This is a box I made for my wife to hold some of her sewing supplies. It is made of mahogany and birch veneer. The marquetry is made of several woods including pearwood, oriental wood, koa, mahogany.

Finally, here is what you see when the box is opened. Thanks for looking at these pictures and the bench pictures.

An excellent job on the marquetry. Did you learn on your own, or did you take classes form some one like Patrick Edwards?

Thanks Dave,

I learned on my own. I bought several books and joined the Marquetry Society. I would like to take classes one day.

hi danny - nice work on the box. i've been doing marquetry for a while - kind fun stuff. was wondering if you use commercial veneers or home cut? i learned from two guys who use the double bevel cutting method - using 5/64th veneers.
attached is a clock i did with a similar design.

if you'd like - check out this link for some works

Danny, must say: "Really, lovely box", based on my experience, your home free for a couple weeks or more. The lady who really is in charge must be truly overwhelmed. Congratulations.
