How did you do the spiral if you don't mind me asking. It looks amazing
Tom its all highly advanced rocket science :D seriously its quite easy.
Layinging out the spirals via the lathe indexing system, scribed the arcs with a compass and pencil. Then cut the firsy grooves with a Vee Gouge, followed by sanding and sanding. CL being soft makes it ideal for this sort of thing. Nearly come unstuck with the DO as we had a rapid drop in temps immediately after I applied the DO, took for ever to harden. This drop in temps is very unusual for us at this time of year...must be global freezing. :)
I reckon most turner could easliy manage to the same after a short see and do session. Once the basics are mastered its just time and patience.
David, My apologies, I am in the middle of building my light tent, its been over taken by the Christams season, work and holidays, all competing for my limited time. But I agree it does deserve a better set up.
