This was the the first to go at the Christmas craft show I went to, and got orders for more. Its 4" x 12.5 WOP finish I really didn't think it would be that popular.214817

I can see why they want more. The banding is unique and the bowl is excellent. How did you apply the inlay. and how did you handle the seam of the inlay, butt joint scarf or? How did you clamp the inlay?

Pretty bowl and the inlay makes it unique. I can see why people would like it!

I cut in a groove and used CA glue and masking tape to hold it, brought it around and did a butt joint, taped entire rim with masking tape tight, let it set to dry and then sanded it smooth and finished it. If you look close at the picture you can see the butt joint on the left. I cut my grooves so the joint would come out fairly close to match the inlay pattern.

Very well done, IMO. I love the inlay and the wood is beautiful. You did a great job.

Well done. The bowl is sweet but the finish makes it special. Some bowls just look better when with a hard high gloss finish. It takes extra work because the gloss exposes every tiny imperfection but on a good surface like yours, it really shows off the wood.

Really nice bowl Tom. Finish and inlay look great. I bought some from Woodcraft a couple of weeks ago to try. Hope it turns out as well as yours did.

Thanks for all the complements, I am working on one right now, just like it without the inlay. I'll post a pic when its done. Then I got one more to do with a inlay and then I get break for awhile. getting some minor surgery done, which will give me week away from work and my wood playing for the holiday. actually looking forward to the relaxing part of it.

That's a great looking bowl and the inlay adds a lot. But, and I am sorry to be the one to tell you this, maple trees do not produce fruit...

Yea, they don't grow the fruit but they sure grow the greens.

Love the bowl and the finish but the inlay really sets this one off. Very nice.
Maple does not bear 'fruit' but where does DD think we get all those maple bars!

That is a nice bowl. The banding adds to the piece.
