Here is a ash bowl that was in log form for about 3 yrs. I almost left it to long as some of the blanks do have a punky spot or two although on this one they cleaned up nicely. It is 9 1/2" X 3 1/2" and is finished with Lee Valley Tung Oil. I put two coats of sealer on and after they had dried put 3 coats of the tung oil finish.

That is a nice bowl form, Bernie...........did the tung oil darken it, or was that the natural color of the ash? unusual a little for ash................most of the time it is lighter in color, but I have seen some dark like this.

Nice job Bernie, and great color for ash. Must have some age on it or mineral deposits?

Nice form, Bernie. I kind of like the darker color.

That did come out nice, the grain on the side of the bowl grabs my attention.

very nice, you do not seem to have any trouble turning close to the pith

Nice looking bowl. If it didn't have the gloss finish it would like like an antique.

Thanks again. I will knock it back some Baxter. I didn't realize that tung oil had that much shine. I hope the others turn out this well as they don't have as much soft wood that I can see compared to this one although it didn't turn out to be a problem.
