So I finally got my Millers Falls Langdon Miter Box. I have worked on taking it apart and cleaning the parts for a few nights. Now I am thinking about some fresh paint. l guess I will try brushing on some oil based paint. It has some smaller areas with paint between other no paint areas. This bad boy is bigger & heavier than I imagined. It immediately has one saying they don't make em like this anymore. A Miter saw with a 26-28" blade is a monster!

That looks nice, Mike. It should be a great miter box when it's all finished.

I think yours is the same model as this one. I found a match for the paint in engine enamel and repainted after doing a thorough cleanup. These boxes are really beautifully made, as are most of the tools made by Millers Falls. I also went over the saw and did a sloping gullet sharpening on it.

Yours is not quite the same. Mine does not have the little circular piece in the front center. The feet are a little different too. Does yours have the scale in the indexing area, some do some don't.

Nice job on the restore. I will look for the engine enamel, should be tough. I am thinking about painting both sides of the red area. On mine the underside of that red area had the most rust. My saw is a Diston. The blade is in good shape. I am working on refinishing the handle and mending a small crack.

Mike and Mike, Good projects. Almost like looking at before and after pictures. I must confess I like restoring old tools almost as much as using them. Keep up the good work gentlemen.
