I was working on an end grain box and was in the process of fitting the lid and it split. So I had to salvage it some way.

I cut off the tenon for the lid and reshaped the box and after fiddling around with several different lid shapes here is what I came up with.

It is 2 3/8" in diameter and 2 5/8" tall in walnut and birdseye maple.

Thanks for your opinions...

Mike,

That looks really great! In the future you may want to purposely do the two tone look :)

I had the same thing happen to me with my first little box. I used Maple. Your Birdseye Maple is much better.

Very nice job.

I don't see any problem at all. Looks how it is supposed to.

Good utilitarian box. Mike. I think even I could get the lid off easily. Love that bird's eye.

Don't you love it when a "save" looks like you planned it that way? :D
