Just couldn't find the sweet spot

I tried everything this morning. Changed the presentation angle, tried pushing harder, tried easing up. Nothing worked. I checked the tool, it seems fine. No matter what I did I just could not find the sweet spot to get anything but powder to come off.

Maybe I need a new ice scraper.

Try placing the bevel heel lightly touching the piece and then slowly raising the handle until you hit the sweet spot.

Assuming we are talking about turning and not morning frost on your car, check to make sure the lathe is running forward (if you have reverse). I have done this, and unfortunately, more than once!
