I tried everything this morning. Changed the presentation angle, tried pushing harder, tried easing up. Nothing worked. I checked the tool, it seems fine. No matter what I did I just could not find the sweet spot to get anything but powder to come off.
Maybe I need a new ice scraper.

Try placing the bevel heel lightly touching the piece and then slowly raising the handle until you hit the sweet spot.
Works for me !

Just turn on the defroster and go back in for a cup of coffee.

Assuming we are talking about turning and not morning frost on your car, check to make sure the lathe is running forward (if you have reverse). I have done this, and unfortunately, more than once!

My question is what sort of chuck did you use to hold that car onto your lathe?:D

Does someone make an ice scraper with a carbide insert?

The only chuck that can spin a car that fast is Chuck Norris.

Getting cold here, too, Scott. Luckily, not snowing though...

Cardboard on the windshield worked for me for years. Then I built a new shop building, and now I park in the garage.
