Here is what I have made for this Saturday's craft show. Have not had much time to turn, but still got quite a bit done. Wish me luck!

Looks good John, hope you do well. I hope to make it to Spokane tomorrow for the woodturners meeting but it is so far away.

John, great selection of ornaments - particularly the "inside-out" turnings. Very colorful array of pens, too! Good luck on sales!

Thanks for the feedback - now for the follow-up:

Learned a lot from this particular show. I almost didn't make the birdhouse ormanents because I thought they were kind of cutesy, especially with the Chinese made birds. Apparently cute sells and the women LOVED the birds! Sold all ten that I made and SHOULD have had ten more! Had 11 "inside out" ornaments and sold three. Those three were all dyed. Not one natural wood ornament sold. Next time - more dye! Only sold five of the pens, but received numerous compliments on them. Next time I need boxes rather than bags for them to make them seem more like a gift item.

Bottom line was black rather than red, so it was a good day!

Congrats John, sounds like you did pretty well. So true about the dye, I have sold some "experiments" that completely amazed me.

Interesting John. Glad you had a good day! Sounds like you know what to focus on for that show next year. I suppose the "hot sellers" vary from location to location and the time of year.

John --- Black is good! Handy info to know about dyed vs natural ornament sales.

John, I get a lot of the compliments and not a lot of sales on pens. I also tried boxes to dress up the pens, but then the price goes up and people still didn't seem to buy that many. I got a lot of people tell me they were afraid to spend the money and then lose the pen. Best of luck, I'd like to know if you find the magic combination as I'm sitting on quite a few pens :-)
