I don't know Charlie, but I saw that price and although it's Christmas time...the Chairman said "pull the trigger". With what I saved, there is also a Griz G0555 Band saw somewhere in transit:D. I have until Monday to clear a spot! Stacey came into the shop the other day and said "Ok...where is this monster going to go?" It is a little bigger than my 1014:eek:
Steve...if you find yourself in Calif anytime...stop by and hit the switch!:D

Wooo Hooooo! Santa this year seems to be in generous mood!

Almost Roger! I have an interest bearing trust account we set up years ago for the houses. All of my pen and utility stuff sales go into a sub of that account. Since we both worked for a legendary mortgage company many years ago...we continue to receive settlements for different suits; these funds also go into that account. This has been a harder year than most for our family, at the same time, many blessings have come to us. We agreed we would spoil ourselves this year. But we have a hard and fast rule for Christmas...No more than three gifts...just like Jesus received!

Congrats...you'll enjoy that lathe. I really enjoyed mine.
Remember...no 'clean' pics of the lathe...we want to see it "all mussed up" with chips, CA, shellac and RUST on the ways from that big piece of green walnut log!
Merry Christmas indeed!

Thanks folks! Should be here Monday and then I work the rest of the week....figures!! Stacey and our daughter know it's a family deal to set it up and since I've been hit with a 2013 marriage date for my newly engaged daughter...I need to make stuff!!
I really want to look at bowls in the Baxter style...coring and the like. Have some other wants too, but coring is big on the list!

Congrats - I have had mine for almost two years and love it. It is the only lathe I have owned. I started with this one knowing I love woodworking; how could I not like turning.
