Well, I was kind of hoping it would magically fill itself with Gold LOL! I turned this last winter, returned it today. Did nothing but sand and oil....the way it warped is just fine by me! This one stays here and wont be sold, unless someone really ponies up the coin.....not sure why but it fits well with me and I have no real intrest to part with it!

Warping can definitely add some special appeal.

Glad you found a keeper! You will have to turn another as I am sure it would be a great seller!

It's all in the eye of the beholder. :-) That is good looking pot. You know, you may turn 20 different items and not really be satisfied with any of them or like them as a keeper, although other people really like them. This one is something of anomaly. Keep it, use it, and enjoy your own work.

I really like the character in this one. Good call on keeping it in the house.

There is something very organic/natural about the form on this one... I can see why you would want to keep it! Nice work!

Ken, you did a great job in hollowing this form - the warp really adds to the character of the piece. What tools did you use to get inside that thing? The figure on the bottom is awesome.

A round cutter similiar to an EWT type tool.

Here the bowl/pot is when I was done, oiled and then bagged last winter.

I knew it would warp and either be good or firewood when it was all over. Today, I mounted it on my vacuum chuck and started cleanup with sandpaper only. It pretty cool, everyone here loves the way the warp looks and I figure I will do more now that I have an idea of how they can turn out. My luck this will be the only one to ever make it to completeion LOL!

Definitely a cool piece! Beautiful wood and just a little twisted!

That is an amazing pot. All that warping and what appears to be a knot in it and oak to boot, and nothing cracked. I just did a couple white oak bowls and didn't bag them, and they split wide open. Nice job, and thanks for showing us what the pot of gold looks like. Now if we could only find the magic to fill it.

That did come out cool. The original turning looked just as good.

Bob, there are two areas where super glue did its job in the knot areas LOL! It was a big question as to whether it would survive the drying period.

Looks like a great job on the bowl and drying process to keep it from cracking. Now put it next to your bed and fill it up with pocket change.

That would make a fine cuspidor. Probably ought to poly the inside though.
