I received a phone call from a young person claiming that my magazine subscription could possibly be the target of a scam. I was told that if others asked for my renewal information that I was not to give it to them. I asked her "well, which subscription"
She said; "do you have more than one?" I answered to the affirmative. I asked her which publisher she represented. Her response; "uhhh" And then she hung up. Because my four subscriptions are all woodworking books, I thought that I would give you guys and gals the heads up. Only give your information over the phone to a number that you are certain of.

I wonder how they even knew you were subscribed to any magazines.

A good guess. By using the generic term "Subscription" they are likely to hit. Most people subscribe to some publication or another, either in print, or online. If you have caller ID, I would turn the caller ID / time etc... in to the authorities...
