Here is a salt box made with Tiger Mable with some Rose Engine Embellishments on a the lid. I have made 2 of them for for my local turning clubs Christmas party auctions. Dan

Really nice! Did you fill the OT work to get it to contrast? Hard to tell from the pic.

Edit: It suddenly occurred to me that you may have used a lighter wood underneath the darker layer on top - correct?

very attractive. I like the colors. The curly maple with simple featureband is a great base to put that very lovely O.T. lid. The auction will be pleased to have them. oughta get them good $$$.

Very nice! Love the segmenting... I would have never thought to segment a salt vault, but this is beautiful!

Very nice. Do you own a rose engine lathe? Maybe some pictures of the lathe?

Very impressive work Dan! I would be interested in hearing a little more detail on how you created the design on the lid...

"OT"? The ornamentation is very tastefully done, very nice box.

The Mendelian on the lid is layers of bingina, maple and Koa verniers glued together and then glue to a waste block, turned round and put on the Lindow White Roes Engine lathe for the embellishment, the cutter just cuts through the layers following the disk design, after Roes Engine the Mendelian is parted off and fitted in to the recess in the lid. There is a Rose engine design on the bottom of the base. I am in the process on doing some changes to the Rose Engine and will post some pictures when it is done.
