Cranked out some ornaments for someone this morning, then tackled this bell....which is as thin as ive ever turned. The bell portion is around 4 inches tall and see through thin and uniform. It isnt the greatest but it peeked my interest to give it another try.

Ken - you sure got that thin part down good! Nice looking bell! I especially like the grain throughout the bell portion!

The goblet looks great. Not every thing needs to be thin but having the skills to turn thin when you want to is a good thing.

Thanks. I reckon white oak wasnt the best choice but its purty. The thin was actually easy as pie surprisingly. I felt it crack when sanding and it was drying and warping faster then the glue could repair the crack LOL! I just grabbed a piece of round firewood off the stack and went at, the next one I do will probably give me all kinds of fits haha! Maybe greener wood would have been a bigger issue not sure.

I'm not a big fan of the oaks, but you sure do them justice. Beautiful job Ken.

Oak isn't the most fun wood around...and thin...well...if you need to impress someone...I guess. But for a good time...that's a nice bell!! Hang it with pride! If it matters...your photo's are amazing!!
