214001Here is a dining room table bar height made out of quilted western maple and wenge legs and skirt I made for a client.

Below is the built in I made for same client. Its all western maple plywood, curly western maple counters solid wood and solid wood curly shelving. All face frames are Wenge. In the tall doors there will be leaded glass and behind that frosted glass and behind that lighting to essentially come out with a lighted box. Above the glass shelving there will be can lights installed and all doors and draws need handles yet. I think the look is kinda 70s but thats what they wanted for combo of woods.

Awful nice work, Craig. I'm really partial to quilted maple and love to see it in furniture like your table. I rarely see it for sale at my local hardwood supplier.

When I went to the Providence Furniture Show last month there was quite a few pieces using curly/tiger maple and zebrawood. Also a few with Wenge.

If they paint the room a good color to accent the bookcase the wood will really stand out.

Excellent choice of woods and a beautiful finish. Speaking of finish, what did you use?
Well done sir.

Sprayed on lacquer. The table has catalyzed varnish on it for durability.

Not a style I'd pick, but your implementation looks terrific. Great job!

Heres the best I have. The first pic is one I have in the shop right now. Im building for myself, its 36 tall and 52x52 square , figured maple top (curly western) It has Wenge legs as well. Thats wood is so pricey , paid $496 for enough wood to make 4 legs and the apron at $15bd foot, retails for 19.50 here.Ouch!

Great work - I really like the design with the legs going through the top. Kinda reminds me of my Roubo workbench. Great choice of wood. It's hard to find quilted maple in such big sizes with minimal defects and consistent figure.

Hans
