I made a couple of pocket knives and laser ablated my logo into the blades. Next I laser cut some 3mm plywood to make a box, finally I got some foam and laser cut it to match the knife outlines.

This laser is going to be quite handy in the shop.

Ernie,

I love your logo! It's nice to see another New Yorker here, too. For your first laser project, I'd say you're off to a great start.

cheers, dee

Great logo, it's a great example of an ambigram.

Dee,

Funny name... My wife is also called Dee. You are a little further north than We are in the Albany area.

I'm curious about the foam. Looks great.
I've tried samples from several companies, but so far
they either catch fire in the laser, or they're too hard/soft.
Can I ask what you used for the insert?

Greg,
I love Ken Onion knives, I have 5 or 6 of his Kershaw designs.

Chuck,
I used some of the black foam that came wrapped around my RECI 80W laser tube. It laser cuts like butter.

Vinny,
Nice talking to you. My first big engraving job is complete.
