I've been coming to this site for a year now and finally decided to get my son to help me upload pictures. I took a couple pictures of one of my first projects about 4-5 years ago. I only had a few tools and designed it myself. My wife does decorative art and needed a paint cabinet to store all her paints. It still doesn't hold enough paint for all the paints she has (which is over 350). As the days go by I'll post more pictures of my lastest work.

Thanks, Brent.
P.S. i hope this works.

Here's a close up of how all the paints are held in place. I ran dowels through other larger dowels. I think it was over a thousand holes i drilled and they all had to perfectly line up or else it was really hard to push the dowels through each other.

Very nice design and job well done Brent. For most people that would be more then enough room for paint. Great job. :)

And Welcome to the SMC :D

Brent, very nice craftsmanship for a veteran let alone a “first” piece. It has a beautiful warm color. Drilling all those dowels must have been fun!

Brent,

I have to agree, you have a great design and a wonderful piece there. You can see at a glance what colors the paints are. Everything is well sorted with that cabinet! Great Work!

I really like your design and follow through!

Did you wear out a drill press drilling those holes? Whew! :D

Those are acrylic paints aren't they? My wife paints as well and I'm afraid to show her these pics. First off she'll want one and secondly she'll refuse my request for more ww tools;)

Well, It was my first project after my wife bought me one of those Delta 'starter' tablesaws for fathers day.
Now this is a picture of my first project. My tool list consisted of a plastic miter box, a saw, tapemeasure and a screwdriver. My wife and I didn't have any money a few years ago and had bought a couple posters. So, I decided to frame them myself. Some 4" T&G and some trim moulding from HD worked pretty good. The groove held the glass and the tongue added a bit of a routered edge look.
Andy London from Halifax will really appreciate the joinery. No biscuit joiner yet.
Thanks , Brent

Come on... How many of you guys laughed at that fine joinery?

This project was soon after the paint cabinet. My wife wanted a mirror that resembled a window. That gave me the excuse to buy a set of dado blades.
